• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Can someone please PM me a copy of the trunking freescan PPS, I would like to familiarize myself with it and setup codeplugs
that I plan on using. Unication does not offer this to people waiting for beta program.

Same here. I'm waiting for the second bata that is coming out any day. It would be nice to get used to the layout before getting the new version. We have very busy TG's right now and it would be great to be bale to hold on a talk group

This is taking too long to get the "new" beta 1.4 software. I signed up in May and uploaded a codeplug like they asked.
It's now July and we have nothing. I understand all the quotes like " It's better to wait a little now and let them get it right" but meanwhile I have nothing to test. As I asked before why won't Unication give me a download of the current 1.4 beta to test in the meantime? Sounds simple to me.
A lot of us bought this pager solely for these new scanner like features so let us sample the old beta right now.

Why would you buy something based on a beta availability? A beta is not a promise that it will become a real product regardless if it is hardware or software.

A beta test is just that, a test. The actual final product may never ever become a reality. I've seen this from many manufacturers in the past where announced betas are scrapped. Sometimes a year or more into beta testing.
I've also seen some beta test programs take well over a year to complete. Only Unication knows how they work their beta program.

Great! then why won't they give us the beta now anyway??? If they scrap it then they scrap it and we can always sell it.

Because they could end up having a greater number of unhappy customers when the firmware doesn't work properly after the update. Remember - there is a great number of first-responders that are using these devices for professional life saving purposes. They are not going to release something that affect those customers.

With that said, the past beta tests have been non-reversable (can't go back to the current firmware). So becareful what you wish for. Beta trials can be problem prone. You may not like how your radio works and might not have recourse to go back.

The first responders are not going to be affected at all by this because they will not be using 1.4 firmware. Yes if I update with the beta I will not be able to use the normal firmware but I will not be stuck because Unication said if you update with beta you will have to wait for the next normal update to reverse the beta, that may take a year or more but that's my gamble not everyone's. For those first responders and others who don't need scanner like mods it's easy just stay with current 1.2 firmware. However if there is a current beta for 1.4 firmware being tested right now (and there is) I would like to test it like all others who are doing so. I don't need to test a "newer" beta. Give it to me now.
