Hello everyone. I recently took possession of a PRO-106, which I've auto-programmed via RR and ARC-500. Conventional frequencies receive beautifully. However, I'm getting very variable performance with my trunked systems (mostly Motorola Type II). When comparing reception next to by venerable PRO-92, the 92 picks up considerably more traffic. I've made sure that there's no attenuation set for the PRO-106, etc.

I realize that this is a very complex radio and it's likely that I'm simply not setting some parameter correctly, but any tips/advice would be appreciated. Is it possible there's a problem with my particular unit? Doubtful, but who knows...

Thanks in advance..aa (Louisville, KY).

I figured out what I was doing wrong. For now, anyway... ;-)

How do you like your 106, Danny? Are you happy with trunked/digital performance?

Best...aa.

The concept is really what scanning should be. Just think of it as EVERY type of entry be it conventional, trunked is considered an object and takes a place within the scanner. its great because it allows you to really plan out how YOU want your receiver to operate. The only limitation is the amount of programmable objects which near 39,000 objects!!!!!!!! You can customize by geographics, system type, agency type, its almost endless!! You can set audible alarms to favorite frequencies. Its simply amazing!!!

Yes I am very happy with my Pro-106, I have to say it is a little better than my Pro-96, there is alot to learn with this one.

My Pro 106 "shows" that I'm scanning PortlandBOEC - but I never pick up ANYTHING? What wrong button did I accidentially push? In other banks, I pick up cities 30 miles away - but not the one I'm living in? Help?

You need to enable the scanlist for BOEC TSYS.

Thanks Frank - any advice is really apprecieated - unfortunately all I did was add another unwanted County that shows it "being scanned," but just like BOEC, it never makes a sound. I must be too old to play with these toys ... Heck, there are only 12 page / reference listings in the manual on dealing with "scan lists..."
All I want to hear is the PortlandBOEC ! That's all !

Thanks ....

Those cities 30 miles away, are they conventional frequencies? If so, did you enter Wildcard or talkgroup Objects for BOEC and the added unwanted county?

BTW, welcome to the forum. :)

Thanks! been here for a while - just never jumped in ... The cities 30 miles away are trunked, on the Washington Co., and Clackamas Co. system. I live right up against Clackamas Co., so it's not bad hearing them. I don't think I entered any wildcard or talkgrp object, but I did manage to get rid of the extra "unwanted county." I'm used to the "old days" of scanning when the police were on the 155 band, and I'd just enter their freq's from the book. Pre-internet days. Perhaps I really over-reached when I thought I could figure out the Pro 106! Do you think the USB cable and some of the programming software outy there would make it easier? I have read that it really helps.
Thanks again!
