I've had my RS Pro-95 scanner for two or three weeks now and I am quite pleased with it so far. I do have a couple questions that I hope someone can help me with. By the way, I have read the manual at least four times and have familarized myself with the functions outlined. I have also purchased the data interface cable from RS, I beleive it was #20-298, and downloaded WIN95. Both work great with my scanner and really takes the drudge out of programming all those frequencies and talkgroups.

Most of the surrounding counties use EDACS. When I try to I load each neighboring county's frequencies in a seperate bank, ex, Bank 2,3, 4, I seem to loose the ability to monitor the frequencies loaded in bank 1. Reception either is terrible, or the scanner seem to stop on Control channels and all you hear is the "hammered drone". Any one have ideas on what I have missed? I thought about putting all trunked frequencies in bank 1, but wouldn't that disrupt the Logical order required for each sytem?

Is anyone aware of a supplier that offers a desk stand for the PRO-95 that would angle the scanner back a few degrees, to improve viewing the LCD?

I wish to thank you in advance for any advise and assistance you can give me.

OK, first do not put all of the trunked frequencies into Bank 1 or any bank matter of fact. You will screw up the logical order. Treat each bank as a seperate agency.

Second, make sure thaat the very first frequency is in the first channel of the bank an (example: Bank 501), then the other freqs in the logical order following that. Always leave the Channel zero in the bank empty. After you have entered the EDACS freqs in the bank in logical order, make sure that each freq's mode is in ED mode (press mode to cycle thru). After you changed all of the freq's modes to ED, press PGM & press TRUNK. Make sure there is also an "ED:" designation. Lastly, enter in the talkgroups like any other freq (you can also name them too). Repeat in each bank for every trunking system you wish to scan. Hope this helps...

Remember: If in doubt, go to the manual for more info.

Good luck!

You can put them all in the same bank AS LONG AS they do not share any LCNs or TG numbers.

ONLY if they have an LCN1 do you want to start with channel 1. Put the frequencies in the correct LCN number - no matter what channel it is. If they only have LCNs 6 and 15, put them in channels 6 and 15.

Separate banks as you mentioned (the original poster) should not affect bank 1 at all for any reason.

Joe is correct in all his points. A lot of people just say start in slot 1, which is correct if there is an LCN1. For systems which don't start on 1, that is, as Joe points out, incorrect. For an example of a system which has sites that are scattered, take a look at the RACOM system.
