I have a PRO 95 with Win95 software. The only problem I'm having is that I'm picking up traffic other than the Alpha Tags I have listed. I'm hearing MOT groups and sometimes data channels. Is there a default I need to check or one unchecked I misssed? Thanks.

Make sure that you have each channel set as MOT as well as the bank (type) set as MOT. Also, if you want to hear ONLY the talkgroup ID's you've got programmed in, run the scanner in CLOSED mode (a "-" sign will appear under the bank while scanning). If you run it in OPEN mode, you will hear all talkgroup id's, not just the one's you have programmed in.

Jayferd,
I knew something didn't look right and the closed box was unchecked. I was going nuts having to listen to garbage trucks and the like. I know where I can go now and again for help. Thanks a bunch. :D

Just curious, Why not use delay in a Moto system?

Jerry

It delays the time for the scanner to go back to the Control Channel which could cause you to miss comms.

OK. I never had that problem with my Pro94. I just got a 95, and there's only one moto system in my area, but I will remember the tip.

Well you might want some delay, if you put a delay on the ID itself it
will wait to see if a reply for that ID comes across the system before
looking for others.
I have a delay on Fire and certain Police ID's, all others I don't.

If you put the delay on the Control Channel, then the scanner won't
take off scanning for other control channels if you ran into a 'dead spot'
while driving. It would hold there for a second or two before it resumed
scanning. (this is for the fringe area of the trunk system) This gives the
scanner time to re-aquire the control channel.

If you live in an area with strong signals then I would say turn it off.
