I recently purchased a new RS Pro 197 trunking scanner. Have successully programmed in NJSP Troop A&B, West Orange PD, and others. The problem I have is to properly ID the radio system and match it to the selection the Pro 197 gives me.
Example, Bayonne is a trunked system - Project 25 Phase 1 (FDMA), System voice APCO-25 Common Air Interface Exclusive. The Control Channel is 470.2500, and the other channels are in the 470/476 range.
Ehen I set the Selector on P25 Manual or /Auto or Mot VHF UHF I do not pick up thre control Channel on either. I have tried the others as well LTR, EDACS and EDACS Narrow, etc. without success.
Bayonne is just one example, Piscataway (Motorola type II Smartnet) and Verona (EDACS Narrow band) and Jersey City (Project 25 Phase 1 FDMA-same as Bayonne) are other examples.
What am I missing - doing wrong? I'm approximately 16-20 miles from Bayonne/Jersey City (Morristown, NJ)
