What is the difference between a base frequency and a control channel?'
I think I am having programming problems with my BC296D because of this issue. How can I find out what the offset channel is when the frequency changes for the control channel or base frequency? In my state, I don't pick up anything on the published base frequency but I do pick up on a published control channel in conventional mode. It just don't work for trunk. I'm in SD.

Thanks
Bill

One more question.. Say the control channel is the same as base. My active control channel is 157.4125 how can I find an offset for this and the correct spacing?
I can do ID searches here ok but never get modulation on this...

To my recollection, there is no trunk system in the 157 mHz range. That area of spectrum is reserved for the marine freqs, taxis and alot of mexican traffic. What are you trying to listen to?

You may need all three of the settings to scan the system correctly.
Code:
Base: 155.4150 157.2000 157.4700
Spacing: 15.0 12.5 15.0
Offset: 380 436 454
If you are only using site 5 (Wall Lake) then the 157.2000 group may be adequate.

And no, you will not hear anything on the base freq.

The Control Channel and Base Frequency (as it relates to trunking) have no connection as far as programming goes.

The base frequency is seldom used on the system - it's just a reference frequency from which calculated frequencies are BASED.
