I saw on a video from Zip Scanners where, when they want to run on AC power for their TRX-1, they remove the batteries and just use the scanner plugged in. Is this what most people are doing that want to run on AC power? I know the Marks Scanners page and the manual discourage having rechargeable NIMHs in there when it's plugged into power.

I'm sure you will get various answers but I think if your scanner is always going to be plugged in it's best to take the batteries out.
You could get corrosion if the batteries were left in for a long time.
The most important thing of course is not to have it set to charge batteries with non-chargeable batteries in the scanner.

Right. I have some Eneloops I've been swapping in and out and charging externally. I like being able to charge with USB because then I can use existing home/car chargers for the radio.
