It's a bit different...think of it like 20 programming sets.

Here's how I used it -
Set up each trunked system and conventional frequency set in banks or groups for my location
Made that the default V-Scanner folder.
Scan it, select/deselect Banks as needed.

Leave Georgia for Minnesota, Washington D.C., etc., then I would switch to the appropriate V-Scanner folder for that area.

It's unique, but useful - IF you don't mind loading in a new Folder for each area.

Would I change Folders daily? No
Would I change Folders when I travel to a different area? Sure, if I can't fit it all into one Folder (of course).
I'm 65 and struggling to program Whistler TRX-1 for our county, Fannin County, Georgia. I used the EZ scan program but obviously don't know what I'm doing. Not getting anything. Can you maybe explain to me how to, in pretty simple terms? Thanks in advance. This is nothing like what I used in my younger years....

Try using this guide, substitute your county with agencies shown.

It appears that public safety in Fannin County is switching over to NXDN. The frequencies showing that in the database must be programmed as such. Blue Ridge PD is also showing NXDN. McCaysville PD is showing NXDN encrypted. Fannin County, Georgia (GA) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Fannin County

(2/24) Sheriff and Fire has recently switched to NXDN 6.25 KHz conventional, no encryption at this time. If anyone can find the RAN and talkgroups (if in use), please submit. If anyone knows if the former VHF analog is still in use, please advise.
(2/21/24) Fire is still operating on analog.

I used your guide, thank you. Still not working. I took the scanner to someone who does scanner programming and he said he has never been able to get one programmed. I'm not sure why, everything looks like it should. I will keep researching. Thank you again for your assistance.

very, very strange remark. Certainly from somebody “who does scanner programming”. Make’s me wonder what he is programming….

I life in the Netherlands so I have to program everything myself (with EZscan) as we don’t have easy database updates. I can guarantee you that my TRX-1e is working like a charm (analog, DMR and NXDN).
There is a learning curve however with the help of a user manual like Mike’s easier to read manual, Radioreference WIKI’s and some trial and error everybody can do it. It will take some time, but that’s with every new hobby 😁

It looks pretty simple to me. Go to the Conventional Frequencies tab in TRX-1 EZ Scan and click on New. Set Channel Type to NXDN Digital. Enter the Frequency and Alpha Tag. If the RAN is given in the database, enter the value. If not, leave set to Any. Assign channel to Scan List. Click on OK. Do that for each frequency. Save the file.

Yep, however that is only one part regarding programming a scanner. Understanding and adjusting settings is even more important. Of course, some people know it all even before they touched a new scanner. Seen to the majority of topics and reactions on Radioreference, most need additional information like Mike’s easier to read manuals.

I've programmed using the easy scan and am not picking up anything on the scanner. I have tried to adjust a few things on the recommendations of others and still not receiving anything. I guess I will have to explore other avenues. Thank you to everyone for your assistance.

Go to the Advanced Features tab in EZ Scan and make sure there is a Scan Set enabled with all of the Scan Lists. Go to the General Settings tab. Does Scan List 151 show Multi Dispatch?

I've never had a Whistler that I couldn't program that wasn't defective.

That said, I would start over from scratch.
1. Try weather, if you receive something, keep going. If not, you probably have a defective unit or a bad antenna.
2. Try a limit search of 154.325 to 158.73. Make sure that NXDN, DMR, P25, X2 and Zeromatic are checked with squelch set to search. See if you get anything.

Is it possible that you're too far away?

These are the notes on the Fannin County site:
