Did you try to update the radio with the Whistler TRX-1 Software?
That display means you have lost the CPU firmware and the scanner is waiting for you to reload it. Download this updater:

Now that Goliad products LLC has bought whistler , I need to get my TRX-1 repaired , but I can't find a website for them ? So I'm suspicious, do they really exist ? If so do they do repairs ? I can't seem to find the information I need , does anyone have any good information for where to get my unit repaired ?
I would love to know as well. I live in UK,a friend has a TRX2 with faulty audio amp chip.He rang the EU importer Moonraker in UK, the boss rang back & said they can't repair Whistler,no information diagrams etc etc. But they don't seem to mind selling new radio's on their web site. Via a facebook page "I have been informed by Goliad Productions LLC in the states that the management have instructed Moonraker to carry out repairs to Whistler scanners. My advice hand on to it for a while. Then try again" This does not bode well. I have a TRX1 which is working fine, fingers crossed !

"As part of this transition, Moonraker has been appointed as the Official European Distributor for the Whistler Group for its scanner products. This strategic partnership aims to strengthen Whistler's presence in the European market, ensuring that customers across the continent have access to the latest Whistler products and support."

How does he know that the chip is bad? The GRE and Radio Shack scanners used a TDA1905 chip for the audio output amp. I don't know if that is still used in the Whistler models. It was replaceable with a NTE7000, but NTE recently went out of business.

The ic is a TDA749LP & is drawing high current, weak distorted audio,no control over audio output, voltage at output pins drop to zero as squelch opens.Normally sits at half rail voltage.Thinks may have shorted LS op to deck.

I'll give $100, you pay shipping. No joke, I'm serious.

Yo
My friends had a bonfire a while back. I decided to take my TRX-1 because of the buttons would no longer work it's been stuck on the Bank with all the area fire channels , once the bonfire was good and hot I tossed it into the fire ! That scanner didn't even cry out for help ! The next day just a few pieces of metal remained !
RIP 😭 😂 😂 🤣

I doubt you actually did this and are just trying to sound "cool", but I would have seen if you could control it remotely via the GRE app.

There are many ways to reach Goliad Products (I posed several email addresses),not sure what methods were used outside of calling the old Whistler phone number but we have been repairing scannners.

The story on this one has unfolded a little, the owner has admitted the 13.8v linear PSU he was using has found to 19 volts output. This is the most likely cause of his TRX2 problems. It is now with a guy who specialists in SMD repairs, we await more news.
