I just received a TRX-2 and I have a question about the "verifying data" screen between this, and my TRX-1. The TRX-2 does 6 sweeps under verifying data, when the TRX-1 does it in 1 1/2 sweeps. They both have the exact same personality. What am I missing? BTW.... Fantastic scanner, love the remote head!
I counted 3 - 4 "verifying data" messages when I booted up my TRX-2. This may be dependent on what you have stored on your SD card and its size. So yes, it does require a certain amount of patience, but I agree, the TRX-2 is a fantastic scanner. To my ears, the decode quality of digital transmission is superior to any other receiver that I have heard. And although I appreciate all the bells and whistles, and the wonderful display screen on my Uniden SDS-200 (also a great piece of equipment), the TRX-2 seems to do a better job at decoding.
Also Kudos to Whistler--- you don't have to pay extra for some of the digital modes, as you have to with the Uniden. However, one must give a lot of credit to Uniden for pretty much nailing down the simulcast issue, something which can be problematic on Whistlers and other scanners, depending on your location. Not sure how you are using your TRX-2, but mine is mostly used at home and is pretty much "on" 24/7.
Have fun with your new "toy".
