i live in page county va they recentley changed to a p25 system 2 i have had no luck getting the scanner to pick it up there are 2 other counties around me using the same sytem i cant get those to work.my dad has the uniden and his picks it up what am i doing wrong help

Did you program it manually or with EZscan software? If the latter, did you update the library and reimport those services?

Yes I used the software and updated the library but no luck

Read the wiki below. Simulcast distortion is brought up on a daily basis here on the forums & is especially known to plague Whistlers. Page County has 4 simulcast cells on the Rockingham / Harrisonburg / Page TRS. You'd be much better off with a Uniden SDS100 (or SDS200) if this is a system you intend on monitoring regularly. There are a number of alternative mitigation methods suggested in the wiki but they work in very few cases.

While a good radio, it is an old design. If you mean Phase 2 when you wrote system 2, you are more than pushing the ability of the radio. The Uniden is a newer type of circuit and handles P25 with an entirely different design. The trx 1 has problems handling phase 1 simulcast in many situations and phase 2 is not likely to work.

Again, feel free to try the mitigation methods in the wiki I linked in post #12. If you find one that works, great. If not, pick up an SDS100 and the difference will be like night & day, believe me. I speak from first hand experience given that there are many Phase-II simulcast systems in my area my previously owned TRX-1 greatly struggled with

Before you trash the scanner, let us take a look at your file to verify that is isn't a programming problem. One thing to check: Shenandoah County uses UHF frequencies. Under Site Options, the North and South site Trunking Tables must be set to Auto Fill. I will raise his offer to $6.

I have 2 of those radios sold under the Radio Shack and Gre names several years ago. They both have the factory upgrade and receive as well on the local simulcast system as my SDS100, but I have my doubts if and when the MPSCS goes to Phase 2.
