I have a pro-96 , soon to get a uniden 796d. Anyway to my surprise today i turned on my scanner and all the channels are locked out. Not i have had time to use this scanner maybe 3 times in 3 months. Been real busy. I downloaded the scanner info into win96 and it says I HAVE NO CHANNELS. What the hell happened to my channels. Of course the channels are locked out, i dont have any. I tried to upload my v folders again, but that will not do anything cause i dont have freq there now. Unless im just so new at this, im doing it wrong. All i have done is upgrade the firmware updgrade for the pro-96 and all the sudden my channels are gone and it wont scan, nothing , natta.
I was under the idea that i could read and confirm and then write my v- folders to the scanner again and all would be right. But even after i do this , it says i have nothing in my virutal folders.
PLeasssssssssssssssssssssssssssee help an extreme newbie that wants to learn this hobby so bad. I been at it all week end, trying to figure it out. If i could just bring the scanner back to default i would . I did try to reset the scanner NOT REinitializing it because that willl drop the main memory. I have done nothing to drop the main memory.

if you post your state county...... could help out more with freq. etc.
hit prm func prm. to (Load #) and use your paperwork to load your default state city


defauld choice after you hit prm func pgm = 1 save 2l oad

1-save = to programe your new table/freq. into scanner
2-load it from your scanner V folder

Amarillo texas. I just cant believe that i lost all those channels. I mean i know im now going to get new york or florida or anything, but i kinda want it like it was. Another problem is is cant do much of anything cause i get channels locked out. I can go to diff groups, police and ham and stuff, but soon as i hit man or scan, i get lock out.

It looks like a bad firmware flash, try flashing it again. If that doesn't work, take it to Radio Shack and ask them about it.
