I browsed some of the posts here and on other scanner sites an I keep seeing the same thing -- the listener hears a town/city name and wonders what state it is in or where about within a state it is located.

Well, being a professional debt collector and skiptracer, there is a couple of free sites that EVERYONE listening to scanner traffic and others in general ought to have:

melissadata.com (click on free searches)

argali.com (download the very small software)

Between these two programs/web sites, virtually anything from running a telephone number backwards to get the person/corporation that owns/lists that number; taking an address and running it to see who lives or which corporations are at that address; putting in just a street and getting everyone on the street; looking up email addresses with even just the last name; putting in city/town and coming up with states which have that name, zip code, and area codes; putting in a street name and coming up with every city/town/village that has that street name; putting in a specific address and retreive what city/town/village in US that has that specific address; AND MORE!

Most is for the US (Argali.com is only US) but I'll tell you that you can't beat this information and IT IS TOTALLY FREE!

ARGALI.COM has both a FREE (personal) and SUBSCRIPTION (PAID) version!

Apparently either you can't read correctly, or you have some other problem!

Argali.com has a FREE version which contains advertising (in order to pay for their expenses)! They also have a PAID (Professional) version. The Paid (Professional) Version is only about $30 A YEAR!

I have nothing to do with argali.com except that I use the Professional (Paid) version ever single day!

I believe that given the question that was presented here, my original response was directly on point. Once downloaded, depending upon how fast your Internet connection is, you can get not only where a particular city/town is located, but even a map!

I will expect a public apology from you!

I guess pop ups on your desktop are free so in essence I guess you are right ?? It loads (free version) loads ads up on your desktop. You get what you pay for and if you want adware or spyware that's your choice. Now can we get back to radio stuff.

All the stupid thing does is search the free search sites all at once

So it being software it most likely sends the info of your searched to someone

People, Spam is unwanted commercial advertising...I see none of that here.
You don't want to use something supported by advertising, don't use it...
