If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

My company is using Hytera PD402 but the employee that dealt with programing them is no longer accessible. I have the correct cable, I assume, and I have the CPS software. I am having problems getting the USB drivers to actually recognize the cable. Does anyone have tips or tricks on how to get the drivers to load or a method for scanning the freqs + TG? I have a cheap freq scanner that I got the actual freq but I am assuming there are talkgroups assigned being that I get the indicator to light up on it when I key up from my DM-1701 on that freq. I also have a few SDRs that can assist in scanning the info I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

easiest way is to read it but not sure why your not managing that. Normally I find that pretty easy on Hytera, just have to find the right com port. Its possible your using the wrong CPS. There are two, the proper CPS for the PD6/7/9 and one for the lower spec PD3 and I honestly can't recall what camp the PD4s are in

To scan for the DMR TG etc. The easiest is to pick up the freq with a freq scanner and then use a cheap chinese DMR with promiscuous mode to discover the DMR details. Examples Anytone 868/878, connect sys CS-580, modified MD-380, btech 6x2 and many more.

I have had occasions where a PC will lose the USB connection even after programming 3 or 4 radios in a row.
Usually resetting the cable or switching USB ports works. The 402 uses a com port and about half the time CPS picks the wrong one. Device manager under windows control panel will show which port the PC picked.

The PD402i series has a version 5 firmware the old CPS will not work with. This looks to be related to a new chipset
that was used after the covid chip shortage. The PD362i has a similar issue.
