Driving this week from Los Angeles south to Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., a bit before getting to our turnoff we saw what looked like an AM broadcast tower with a distinctive capacitance hat on the north side of the Interstate 5 freeway:

This is only the uppermost portion of the tower.

I've looked on Apple and Google Maps and did a few web searches, and am striking out so far on identifying it. Is there a good database or map site that would help us pin this down quickly? Hoping to avoid having to go through all the station listings for that urban area one-by-one. Wondering if it's new?

That is probably KFI AM 640KHz. An airplane hit their antenna a few years back and the replacement is shorter with a cap hat.

A little farther north than I was remembering, but that sure looks like it. I was hoping the picture was location-tagged, but the family member who shot it has that disabled on his phone. Thanks!

That is likely the KFI auxiliary tower, because it is not painted (it is 200' AGL). Their main tower, near Artesia Blvd. in La Mirada is painted the usual aviation orange/white

You drove right near my house. Live near Artesia Blvd and Carmenita In Cerritos and that indeed is KFI. 50 KW on 640 KHz and +4 to +5 dBm on my Perseus SDR. That is strong. Have fun in LA/Orange County area.
