• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to find the pinout information for of the Icom OPC-1211 cable, which is needed to update the firmware of the FR3000/FR4000 repeater. One end is USB and the other is JST ZH 1.5mm 6 pin that plugs into J12 on the logic board. (I do have the EX-2717 firmware software)

I have the service manual, but J12 isn't even shown on the schematics! I can search things like J8, J10, J11, etc and the search function of the pdf file goes right to the proper spot on the schematic. Nothing for J12, which seems weird. I am by no means an electronics wizard, so I'm sure I'm missing something. I tried attaching the Service Manual PDF, but it's 8mb, so too large for here. I did attach a photo of J12 on the logic board though. I'm assuming only 4 of the 6 pins are used, since the USB is only 4 wire??
(This is the service manual for the FR4000 repeater - https://www.lyonscomputer.com.au/Ra...4000-UHF/docs/ICOM-FR-4000-Service-Manual.pdf )

I was looking at at my current Icom OPC-i592 FTDI USB programming cable, and it only has two wires going to the RJ-45 mic plug. A white wire to pin 2 and black wire to pin 7.
Pin 2 of the IC-FR4000 is I/O Port for PC Programming and Pin 7 is Speaker Ground and as far as I can tell, that J12 on the Logic Board shows Pin 1 as a Ground, pin 2, 3, 5 and 6 all show a positive voltage of just under 5 volts and I have no idea what Pin 4 would be. Could that possibly be the pin that would be used to program the firmware?
