Ok I have a couple of questions that I hope some of you can help me with. Right now I have my scantenna mounted on my roof. I have to take it off of there because we are putting on a new roof and it is in the way, obviously. I have some space in the back of the house that I want to put the antenna and possibly a cb antenna. I want to put it on a mast that would be next to the house, but rising about the roof, so it's clear of any obstruction.
Now here is what I think will work, you let me know if its a bad idea.
I would dig down approximately 3 to 4 feet with a fence post digger. I am going to use a length of fence pole (let me know if this is best or what I should be using), and then cement it into the ground with the antenna attached and ready to go. Secure the mast and let the concrete set and cure. I would then ground the antenna as normal. I was thinking of getting a cb setup and put the cb antenna on top of where the scantenna would go. Please let me know if this is a good idea, pertaining to strength of the fence pole mast and what not. Just to clear up any questions right from the beginning. The mast in is now way of hitting anything, be it electric wires, other houses, etc. I also figured that if the fence post is too long and making wobbly I could just get some sort of bracket that can connect the mast to the house, basically just to stabilize it. I'm just looking for some ideas and comments on this setup. I really dont want to get into getting a tower and what not, I just want to get the scantenna up in the air and possibly adding a cb antenna at some time. Please give me some feedback....Thanks guys.
PS: Another possibility is along the same lines, just using the directions from scannerstandman with his tilt over mast.
