Does anyone know how to get around my software problem?????? "Can not read radio with older version of Software" I recently bought radio off ebay and the radio was programmed with a newer version of software. Are there anyway or ways of modifying the older software or blanking out the radio and reprogram it with the older software? if so, How?

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.
If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.
To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

You will have to get the newest version of the sw. Like everything else, I'm quite sure it's available on the web, somewhere!

To my knowledge, you will have to have the same version your radio was programmed with or a later one. Once a radio has been "done" with a particular version, earlier versions cannot be utilized any longer with that radio. So you will have to look for a later version somewhere. If I am incorrect in my reasoning, I'm sure someone will let you know.

Not knocking anyone here or their intelligence or qualifications in their respective fields, but you may want to check the Batlabs website & ask on their respective message board(s) as well for any software issues that the answers above did not solve. As this thread has nothing to do with Scanning Software, it is moved to the Motorola forum.
As tampabayjon points out, you would be better served to use a site more directed to Motorola Radios and Programming them then here.

The latest DOS RSS version is 6.07.00. As another poster stated, the MTS2000 has a Windows programming software platform (called CPS) which the latest version is 1.10.00, I believe.
You can easily 'revert' the radio back to an earlier RSS version by simply cloning an identical model codeplug into the radio with the desired RSS version. So, find an identical codeplug which you can open in your RSS, and clone it in.

For the original poster of this inquery, do just like todd said. All you have to do is load a codeplug into the radio using the version of rss that you have without trying to read it. Just load the codeplug into the radio then you will be able to read your radio and do whatever you need to do to it. No need for newer rss.

Keep in mind that anytime you blow in a codeplug from a different radio, a full alignment should be performed.
Latest CPS is 1.13.00, but as Todd stated, it's only for the MTS2000.
