BCD396T/BC996T: Trying to register my old BCD396T

Problems registering my old BCD396T on "my.uniden.com"

I'm trying to register my old BCD396T in order to update the firmware, but I'm having problems completing the registration process on my.uniden.

I downloaded and installed the firmware version 1.20.13 in order to obtain an electronic serial number and "Checksum," but I keep getting a message in response indicating, "The Checksum you entered is not valid." I'm using the information as it now appears on my scanner's "Firmware Version" screen for both the "ESN" and the "SUM," but that's not accomplishing anything.

I've registered several Uniden scanners on that site over the years, but this one's got me stumped.

Suggestions?

The first several characters of the serial number are already loaded. Just enter the remainder. Also, take a close look at the checksum. The number 8 and the letter B are often confused.
