On my last visit to TTC land, I found the following subway frequencies:

422.6625 - Bloor/Danforth operations
422.6875 - Yonge/University/Spadina operations
422.8250 - Yonge/University/Spadina data
423.1250 - Bloor/Danforth data

Does anyone have confirmed frequency information for the Sheppard Line?

The frequencies on RadioReference are horribly wrong (or at least they were the last time I looked).

Go to http://transit.toronto.on.ca and find you way over to 'Spare Parts' then 'ETC'. You'll find a topic called 'TTC Radio - Some Background Information'.

Punch in all the frequencies for the 'Wayside System' except the two data channels.

Those frequencies are shared on all the subway lines in Toronto.

There is also a PDF I uploaded years back to the files section here, it is the same data.

Unfortunately I do not live in Canada. I did program all the frequencies, however no transmissions regarding the Sheppard subway were heard. I'm depending on someone local to provide any information.

As noted in post #'s 1 & 3, all the frequencies shown in post #4 (TTC Subway) were programmed into my scanner, however no transmissions relating to Sheppard were heard. I am not seeking a frequency list, rather a specific frequency for the Sheppard line,

Perhaps the Sheppard Line just doesn't generate much radio traffic?

From what I gather, you need to be very close to a station or actually on the subway to hear any communications. You could always grab a scanner with Close Call and ride the subway until you hear something.

The frequencies that Mike posted are exactly correct and are still valid to this day.

Traffic (radio wise) on the Sheppard line is VERY minimal. The line is not very busy, and because there are never (well, almost never) any turn-backs or anything like that - there's nothing to talk about. The Sheppard line is under local control from the Sheppard Tower, so any time orders need to be given to a crew, they are generally done in person.

And Mike is also correct in saying that the subway radio signal is very weak. It is transmitted over Radiax (leaky coax) in enclosed tunnels and with very narrow-beam yagis in the open sections. I used to live at Victoria Park and Danforth here in Toronto with a straight shot into an open section of track. Even with a decent antenna 30 stories up, I had one hell of a time hearing anything. When I'm in the subway itself, there are many places the signal is very weak on even a Motorola radio - totally un-useable on my 396.

So yes, in order to hear the subway "wayside" comms, you MUST be either inside the system (tunnel) or pretty much standing next to an open-cut section.

I agree, radio traffic was none existant. I rode the line several times and had the scanner on; unfortunately no communications took place. Let's keep this thread open, perhaps someone will "catch" the frequency in the future and would post the finding(s)!

There's no frequency to "catch" - they're already given above.

The subway uses an MPT1327 trunking system, therefore there's no single frequency. Punch in all 5 of the Wayside frequencies, and you'll hear all subway radio comms on all 3 lines. Of course, you will only hear the comms for the line you are in.

I rode the Sheppard line twice a day from end to end for over a year, and it was pretty rare for me to hear comms on there. So don't worry, you aren't doing anything wrong!
