I heard from an inside source that the new Tulsa 911 building on Lansing will open and the transition will be made. Heard they have a few bugs to work out. As far as they know all the radio information will stay the same but of course since it's a new location the phone numbers and lines are biggest problem. Glad to see they are making progress. Hope they like the new building.

TCSO Lowband already hearing complaints that they can't get the numbers down there cause "they don't want officers calling the Dispatchers" Hah! That won't last long.

There always seems to be a lack of communication at the communications center.

My inside source says that the secret phone number thing won't last long. The reasoning behind the flawed solution is that for years citizens and surrounding agencies have been going around the call takers by using the direct ph#'s which was burdening the various already busy law main dispatchers with having to listen to Redneck, OK PD dispatcher or some do-gooder patrolling in his vectorized Astrovan. Management just saw an opportunity to try something to fix it, and are giving it a try.

The source also tells me that things are going better than the lay-folk thought, but there are still a ton of smaller problems being ironed out. There are still some issues with CADS, as well as a bunch with the entirely new phone system. There are 15-20 techs from various vendors still on site working on average 12-16hrs a day to get everything working correctly though.

I'll keep everyone updated as they give me updates!

Didn't have any problems when we cut TPD from the old 4th & Elgin to the 3rd floor of Civic Center Plaza; must have been about Sept. 1969.

You have to keep in mind that not only has there been a physical move, there's also been an entirely new VOIP based phone system installed and wired into the existing 911 AND City/County PBX systems, as well as new radio and pc's at each console. the only thing being carried over from the old center is the employees, some CADS server equipment, and the trashcans (which probably are the same ones that were in service in 1969:D)! With all the technology in that building, I'd expect some problems getting off the ground, but they've been pretty minor so from what I hear.

things are getting better every day, still some kinkS with the new phones and some issues have developed preventing dispatchers from patching or multi-selecting tgs right now.
