Are there any "good" repeaters that the RR crew hangs out on around Tulsa? Everytime I'm up in that area, I hear about squat on the ham stuff. I heard 3 conversations on simplex today (147.435, 146.49, and 446.450-might have been a link freq), but nothing on a repeater (other than the ARES stuff).

I could hit the 443.85 (88.5) and 442.00 (88.5) linked repeaters (442 all the way back to OKC actually), but think it would be annoying to talk on a repeater with 3-4 courtesy tones after every unkey...

So what's the ham scoop up there? Any good wide-area coverage (pref UHF) repeaters?

Oh - and while I was in Tulsa, I scored a new P25 freq for y'all to listen to (although it might not be all that interesting) - 854.9625 - P25 simplex - Tulsa Performing Arts Center ops....

147.39 has huge coverage and is mostly local "ragchew" chats.

146.88 has good coverage, but the audio is scratchy (to me anyway).

146.91 is in Broken Arrow and is pretty active - good coverage to the south and southwest, but not the north or west.

145.11 can be active at times, as is 147.045.

On UHF, 444.1 (sometimes linked to 146.88) and 444.000 (usually linked to 146.91)

443.85 and 442.000 are part of the W5IAS linked system - and there aren't multiple courtesy tones on it - it has one 3-tone rising courtesy tone. If you're hearing more than that, it's because the local machine you're hearing has its own "local" courtesy tone on as well as the one coming from the link. Those are supposed to be turned off, so if you hear it, please send me the frequency you're hearing it on and I'll pass it on to the repeater owner for that particular machine to reprogram it. I suspect there are a couple that were recently worked over that haven't been fully reprogrammed yet (Bartlesville, McAlester, maybe Mannford?)

I guess you can say my "home" frequency is 146.91 in Broken Arrow. If that one has issues or is too busy I use 147.39 in Tulsa. Like everyone else in town I use 443.85 for WX in Tulsa but some times use it for regular chit chat due to it's coverage and location. Have fun listening.

Don't forget 145.45 in Bixby (also crosslinked to 443.600 Mhz full time). Good place to hang your hat if 146.91 gets busy. Seems to have better west coverage than 146.91, so you have a better chance with Sapulpa and Sand Springs stations.

I thought that 145.45 was in Leonard.

Its address is officially Leonard, since it is located next to Lake Bixhoma. I always say Bixby just because there are some people that don't recognize where Leonard is located.

UHF is working well this evening. I could hit the 442.000 link from the west side of OKC on a mobile with a junky antenna (on 5 Watts).

I understand. Not nitpicking, but I think it helps people that are using beams and stuff like that to know where the repeater is located.

My friend talked to a user about a similar situation a few weeks ago. A person was having a hard time getting into the machine and was using a beam antenna. One ham told the other ham that the repeater was located in say, Bixby, but it was really located outside of Bixby proper in another community.

The helpful ham didn't realize that they had mistakenly caused the beam using ham to be off by about 24 degrees.

Sorry for the long explanation. Take care.

Two questions:

1) What about the access tones for these repeaters?

2) What repeaters are active in the OKC area?

That 442.00 in Creek County requires a 88.5 tone

And not that I want to get that far off topic (even though I started this thread).....

In OKC, there are quite a repeaters few, but not that many that are regularly active.
MORI used to have one that was pretty active, but I think it was having issues a while back. Here is a list to get you started:

146.925 (No Tone) MORI - Common 2M repeater
146.820 (151.4 I think) - W5MEL
147.135 (No Tone I think) Edmond
442.575 (136.5) Media Guys hang out on this one
444.775 (141.3) P25/Mixed Mode (Lots of RR.com guys)

For a list of "coordinated" repeaters, visit: http://skynet.entz.net/webpages/shorty/orsi//ORSIFreqs.xls (don't trust it a whole lot though - looks to have LOTS of errors)
