Tulsa, EMSA encrypted radios coming soon

I just overheard from a tech person that work for EMSA that sometime before june they will be going to 100% encrypted radios. This will allow for EMSA ambulance crews to tell the hospital the name of there patients and more.

In addittion all the hospitals in EMSA coverage will be getting new radios to receive EMS reports from the medics, and alos allow EMSA dispatch to communicate directly with the hospitals. EMSA will also be able to talk to more that one hospital @ a time if needed during a disaster or worse. i.e. SFH & SJMC & TRCM all @ the same time. from the trucks to dispatch.

The only problem is im thinking we are going to loose the ability to hear what they are doing, from those of us that like to listen...

Several post have mentioned September. On another website a user posted that EMSA would be on 800 and digital in August. That one of the talkgroups was going to be 12400. That supervisors already had the new radios.

I have been scanning the Tulsa system since Jan 2004 with all known talk groups locked out. I have not heard 12400. The closet to that was 12336 and it was a radio service tech doing a radio test.

We all just have to keep each other updated. Not all of us here in the Tulsa metro have a digital scanner. The people that do, we are counting on you to let us know what is going on. Happy scanning...
