Whoever's working teletype today has me laughing my butt off! I don't know how to explain it, but you'd just have to hear him

The last thing was about a COS for a suspicious subject where the caller didn't give enough info, and the deputy radioed in asking if they had/could get anything else. The dispatcher responded over the air something like "You don't understand, this is the kinda stuff we have to deal with all the time where a caller wants to whine about something, but doesn't want to get involved by giving us any specifics"

I hear you there.. He was answering deputies too by their first name instead of their designator, pretty cool guy IHMO.

Did you guys happen to catch the TPD Explores during the boat show? There was some rough stuff being said. They're really rough to those poor kids.

One of the conversations went something like this:

HQ: "XX, did you go 10-7?"
XX: "Yes."
HQ: "Did you get permission from anyone before leaving?"
XX: "No."
HQ: "Did you think your mother was going to take responsibility for covering your post?"
XX: "No."
HQ: "Come by the command post."
XX: "Do you have anyone to my post while I come in?"
HQ: "You were raised to the rank of sergeant and with that rank comes rights and responsibilities. One of those responsibilities is to solve problems. I suggest you do that now."
XX: "10-4."

After a long pause.

XX: "XX, 10-7 in route to the command post."
HQ: "Who's covering your post?"
XX: "No one. That's why I asked you if you had anyone to cover my post."
HQ: "Let me repeat what I said a little more slowly. You were raised to the rank of sergeant and with that rank comes rights and responsibilities. One of those responsibilities is to solve problems. This is a problem that YOU created. No YOU have to solve it."
XX: "10-4."

Since trds/tpd cads system in no way gives the officers names he must be an old timer or reserve depuuty

Since TCSO has fewer deputies on duty, most get to know the dispatchers by name and vice versa. Sometimes it comes across on service side.

I was kinda getting the old-timer vibe from him the way he was talking.
