Greetings,

I fired up my Uniden digital scanner for the first time in a couple of years. It seems like a lot has changed. It seems like i'm not hearing anything from Tulsa Fire. It also seems like TPD is much different.

I guess my short question is... Has a lot changed from a year or two ago? Also, Is there anything i need to do different to re-program my handheld? Sorry for the open ended, broad questions. I'm just looking to be able to get this thing back in working order. I'm re-downloading the ARC software now.

Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Frequency changes are most likely your culprit, TFD is now on OKWIN P-25 and is constantly busy. You need to update OKWIN and add/update OKWIN P-25 as well. Also if your close to a Stand Alone site (Coweta, Owasso Etc.) you might be better listening to it for OHP Analog.

Thanks for the info. The more I try to update this. The more problems I uncover. I can't get my uniden bcd396xt to connect to my computer that is running windows 10. I'm using the original cable.

Do you have any ideas? I can't seem to find any drivers for the USB-1 that is supported on windows 10. I'm not sure what my options are here.

So sorry for all the questions. Like I said before. I sincerely appreciate any help and/or feedback.

Other than looking at Windows to see if it is up to date, I'm not sure. Were you able to program it before off this computer? If all else fails reboot.

Try this first. On searching for the cable I came upon this. See if this works first.

1. download the driver version Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port | Magic Driver| ( although this is an old driver version, this works in most versions of Windows OS even the latest Windows 8.1 in my case )

2. Go to device manager, under Ports ( COM & LPT ) right click Prolific USB-to-Serial (COMx) then select Update driver software.

3. Browse for driver software on computer

4. Let me pick from a list of devices on my computer

5. Select Have Disk

6. On the bottom, Select Browse and then select location where you saved the driver for 3.3.11.152, you should be able to find ser2pl.

7. Open, then OK, then Next, then VOILA! it should be working now.

8. Scan hardware changes to verify.

Others have reported it working in W10 even tho the OP uses 8.1
