I was driving through Tulsa the other night (Tuesday). It was the first time through the city with my new 396.

About halfway through the city, I noticed I was only hearing OHP traffic. It was about 8:00, so I thought it was awfully odd. I turned my PRO-97 on, and was hearing Tulsa's traffic just fine. I checked the control channel, and both radios were listening to the same freq.

I double-checked the TGID's, and they were all set right. I set my 396 to hold on a TG. The 97 went off, but the 396 did not.

Any ideas on why I would still hear OHP traffic just fine, but not hear any of the Tulsa's TG's? I wanted to get back and take a look at the file and make sure nothing was locked out, a group not enabled, or some other obvious setting. All of that checked out...

May have been missing the correct control channel and was picking up either the states Bristow site or Okmulgee site, that's all I can think of if everything else checks out.

That's one of the odd things. Both scanners were listening to 859.9375. I'd hear Turner traffic, and I even heard one of the troopers transmit that he was 10-60 on 34416 (DPS T T1). My PRO-97 was rattling off traffic on all sorts of ID's.

I have the system set as a "Motorola Type 2 800 MHz Standard" in ARC396. Status Bit On is checked. End Code is set to "Yes/detect". I wouldn't think these last two would have anything to do with anything, since I'm not worried about TGID's that are not divisible by 16.

most likely if you are not from tulsa you dont have the correct 30 frequencies in your scanner. go to the rr database and enter all 30 freqs for city of tulsa. you should then be fine.

Well, 859.9375 doesn't cross over to any other system in the Tulsa area, (Muskogee,Okmulgee or Bristow) so that rules that out. Are you using any type of PC programmer for you radios? I don't know how many times I have programmed my scanners for out of state travel, only to find that they don't get all the settings correctly and I miss hearing stuff. Last time I went east with my new BC796D, I had transfered my 780's program over to the 796's and Springfield, MO's system didn't load as a trunked system (used butel arc250 to program the 796) and showed up as soon as I got in range and it would lock on the CC while scanning. Nothing I hate more than trying to drive 70 Mph and fool with a radio at the same time so i generally just wait till I'm shut down to figure it out. When I got home I found that all the info was correct in the program but for some reason the radio didn't take it. How I discovered this is I read the info from the scanner and saved it into another file then compared the 2 files to find the problem.

yeah, I went through all that. I uploaded the profile back into ARC396, and it's all correct. Maybe it's just a corrupt file. I'l blast it and reload it from RR and try it out when I get back through there.

Actually Tulsa's site (KNJH431) is only 28 channels. The two that are assigned to another callsign and are conventional is (856.7375) which was used by TPD and has been both digital and analog. (857.7375) is used by TFD for the "DROP" signal to all the stations. It sounds like data churping and that is the data being sent to their printers and opening their garage doors during calls. Both frequencies are listed under the callsign (WPRI776) Just thought I would comment...Thanks
