Two questions for members who might be able to help

Question 1

1. I recently purchased Whistler's TRX-1. I listen to Tulsa's OKWIN system, specifically, TPD.
Is there any appreciable difference with reception listening to this system on FM vs NFM?

_____________________________________________________________________

Question / Issue 2

2. I am having difficulty programming (with my TRX-1) a DMR system.

For example, the River Spirit Casino is a DMR system.
I attempted to self-program the system -- and that did not work.

* I then realized that the system is already on the SD card, and I rationalized that by simply
picking it from the Library on the TRX-1, then, importing it to a scanlist should work.
It didn't.....

(I must be doing something incorrectly.)

I am able to receive their DMR communications for the above-mentioned DMR system
during a "Limit Search" - but obviously, there is "discontinuity" in the conversation (s)
when doing this.

Is there a member who is familiar with Whistler's TRX-1 that could PM me, helping me
program this DMR system, and, in general, helping me with what I am doing incorrectly
with this scanner?

I would like to add that (in general) I have found Whistler's TRX-1 to be exceptional, especially with respect to; sound and reception,
and it is the only scanner (at present) that is able to receive NXDN without -paying- for a firmware update.

Thanks to any member who could help.

My question, to be more succinct, is this:

With the TRX-1, when wanting to listen to a DMR system like the one I posted (see original post)
Instead of self-programming, since this system is already on the SD card, couldn't an individual simply
go to: Browse Library / Then select state, and county, and system.....then import that system.

This is what I attempted to achieve with the River Spirit DMR system here in Tulsa, OK.

It did not work.

Yet, if I conduct a "Limit Search" if any of the frequencies appear, the scanner will receive the DMR communications (of the above-mentioned system) but obviously there is discontinuity in the conversations.

This tells me that I am close enough to receive the system.

I am at a loss as to what I am not doing correctly.

Are you saying that the system Isn't there in the database or that it doesn't work when you load it. You might have better luck for answers in the Whistler forum. I have no issues other than range monitoring the Hard Rock casino from my area and loading it from the DB.

Also don't forget to insert a Wildcard ID in the talkgroup so it can find new ID's, the ones listed in the DB may not be correct. HR didn't have any known ID's when I started to monitor it so all I had to go by was a wildcard ID and I have seen up to 26 ID's on the system.

Though I'm tempted, I don't have any Whistler stuff. However, my experience with the BCD436HP is that you need to be ready to play whack-a-mole with all the "don't work" switches in the radio. That may be the case with the TRXes as well. As someone else said, you might grep through the TRX forums and see if others have had similar issues - surely others have hit the same wall.

I've got both TRX-1 & 2 and listening to TFD is hit and miss. TPD has started simulcasting on both the P25 side now as has Troop B. I can heard the Hardrock fine using the RR database in the latest update. I will say if you're in a sweet spot TPD and all the P25/1 talkgroups sound great..

You are correct sir. I stand corrected.

And let me just add that I'd consider tithing another $50 to Uniden for NXDN on my BCD436HP, but I don't know of any systems in central Oklahoma!

Railroads are said to be moving in the NXDN direction. If that's true and it happens, then my $50 is ready. Or sell it and by a TRX ...

Thank you. As that is the real issue. Is it a possibility that the information provided here on RR,
is incorrect..... with respect to the River Spirit Casino?

I did program a wildcard, but with the TRX, you shouldn't have to program anything... since the system is already on the ST card, simply importing it to a ScanList is all that is required.

And I am telling forum members that the information we have here is either incorrect or the TRX cannot pick up the system for some reason..

With the TRX I have had no trouble at all listening to TPD or TFD, and Troop B always is analog, and have never had any problems at all with those at all

RRDB is fine on the River Spirit Casino. I am picking it up with no problems. DSD doesn't show the RAS flag either for the frequencies.

I do not believe the information provided on RR is completely correct for this system: River Spirit Casino.

The FCC reports this system has as many as 10 to 12 frequencies.
You do realize that would be close to two dozen talk paths? Major overkill for a casino.

Also, for a differential, it simply may not be able to monitor.

Info: Restricted Access to System (RAS)
Since they're not using RAS, where are you going with this?
