Hello,
I am wondering if anyone knows the codes for the turnpike. I know that the numbers are the same as the highway patrol but I am wondering what the codes are. For example: Boston is code c charlie or Canfield is code b boy. Does it have something to do with weather?

Also, if anyone knows the unit numbering system I would love to know what that is too. 2750, 445 etc.

Thanks,
Justin

These are not codes and have no meaning except for the letter they represent. It is a Phonetic Alphabet. When speaking over a radio you may say the letter "E", but it may sound like V, T, C, D, B, etc, etc.

By spelling out the word phonetically, for example your name - John, Union, Sam, Tom, Ida, Nora - it becomes very clear.

There is a public safety alphabet (above) and an international alphabet.

Most areas use one of the two alphabets. I also hear some users that just say the first word that comes to mind, which happens to start with that letter, but this just defeats the purpose, especially if the person on ther other end doesn't know what you are referring to.

I understand that it is the phonetic alphabet but I am asking what it means for the Turnpike Maintenance personnel. They have their own meanings for letters and I am wondering what the meanings are.

TurnpIke codes

I have heard the codes you are talking about. I believe they are road conditions or weather conditions.
