TV Freq Interference

Occasionally when I'm mobile with my Pro95 I'll get short bursts of what sounds like TV audio that over takes the police freq I'm listening to. It's usually in the 400MHz freqs. It comes in at full volume, regardless of what my set volume is. I know that if a signal is "pushed" at a frequency hot enough you can get crossover. But it's strange that a police band would allow that to happen.

I get the same thing on a sheriff's freq in the 154.845. The volume doesn't change but can here the TV channel very clearly.

If the volume does not change then it is getting into the audio stages.

I would guess it is when you have a VERY strong signal (like you are near the TV station) or it is a strong nearby CBer broadcasting the TV audio.


If you can change teh volume, I would guess an image or IM.

Hey I've got the opposite problem... when im watching a certin TV channel I get ATC transmissions... "This is Harbour air traffic, altimider blah blah blah..."

i have a number of my 450-460 meg freqs attentuated because of the strong signals because of the station's signal where i work... i also the off-air on a number of hi band vhf freqs when i am in the building or close--quite a problem some days

I used to hear a lot of multiple tones whenever I drove past a local grocery store while monitoring the local police channel (155 MHz).

I just attributed it to the HAMS in the meat department.

You're all likely getting either intermod, images, or mixing.
