This question has been beaten to death in CANADA, all over the place they use 450-470 typically in simplex, for a SET RADIO, many times you will see up close someone carrying two radios, one long range (repeater) set/staging - to storeage yard of equipment or main office , those are rented throught the usual suspects , whomever is local,
In Vancouver we have a number of permanent film studios/sets , some have set up their own system that rents to the film crew. Very easy to scan/search the band and find.
I would first eyeball the radio and see wether VHF / or UHF . Go from there.
