At 11:55 A.M. the Colorado State Patrol responded to a fatal car crash which took the lives of two pedestrians in Douglas County.
A blue 2007 Subaru Tribeca was traveling westbound on C-470 when it exited S. Broadway. As the Subaru exited onto the off ramp, the vehicle lost control and drove off the left side of the off-ramp and up onto the grassy embankment between the off-ramp and C-470. As the Subaru neared S. Broadway it traveled down the embankment and struck two pedestrians who were working in a construction zone. The pedestrians were between the embankment and the east road edge of S. Broadway when they were struck. The Subaru continued westbound and entered the northbound lanes of S. Broadway where it struck a 2007 Honda pilot which was traveling northbound.
The two pedestrians, Joseph Schwartz, age 47 of Morrison and Jesus Villalobos, age 27 of Brighton died on scene as a result of their injuries.
The Subaru was driven by Thomas Garrity, age 74 of Bellevue Nebraska. Garrity was transported to Littleton Adventist Hospital with moderate injuries. The Subaru was also occupied by a 72 year old female passenger who was transported to Littleton Adventist Hospital with moderate injuries.
The Honda was driven by Lara Mooney, age 39 of Highlands Ranch. Mooney was uninjured in the crash.
This crash remains under investigation.
