Yep 460.2375 was their active channel before they went quite and Nelson County was 159.150 before they disappeared.

How about 453.2375 [d023] ? That was Prince Edward SO's previous freq, and there is activity. I heard Prince Edward being addressed just a little while ago. Can't determine nature of the traffic. It's licensed to Farmville, but was used by PESO after FPD moved to 460.0625. State Park police also had it. Give it a listen and see what you think.

A PESO car passed me on 460. Had hi-band quarter wave, plus loaded antenna I'm thinking is SIRS, plus a stubby white antenna that could be a UHF fractal.

Took a bike ride Sunday in Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest and let the scanner record. Nature and location of traffic makes me fairly sure that 453.2375 [d023] is Prince Edward Sheriff once again. Also Holiday Lake State Park was using 151.400 simplex with no squelch coding, for general ops.

randythomas - the FCC no longer maintains a FCC License Database with updated entries.
Its why Police Call publication no longer exists. that and the Author of Police Call died RIP. however the FCC does produce documents on License approval/Denial or NEW radio scanner devices approved.
Radio Reference is just OK for a free service but is maintained my scanner, HAM and commucations radios Enthusiasts and volunteers. and RR is only as accutate as the volunteers are. FCC frequency no longer published or maintained. you can easily verfify with a Digital Scout frequency counter (easy way) or you can program a Communications Receiver like an ICOM or AOR Digital Radio to go a proper search scan unlike what a scanner can do. or if you have a laptop, you can also verify with a Dual SDR dongle . for ease of portibility , I like my Digital Scout frequency counter, It searches the Entire Spectrum in under 1 second , when it locks on the Scout unit can be set to BEEP, Vibrate or remain Silent (stealth mode), I use a Triband Stubby Antenna as you only want the Tower you are targeting, the Scout is completely Automatic no intervention on your part is needed, you just have a walk around the Target with the Scout on your waist like a pager. you can later review the HIT LOGS and review the entry the Scout made. If you have a Icom R-20 or and AOR 8200 mk III then you can REACT TUNE with them , just not for Trunking.

nc1 a Digital Scout or a SDR based Communications Receiver would be a better choice , the Digital Scout scans the Entire Spectrum in one Second and records everytime someone keys up.
A ICOM or AOR SDR based Communications receiver is far Superior in Search mode than a Scanner is.
both ICOM and AOR digital radios have Mutiple Search modes including ones that Search for Voice traffic. also with ICOM and AOR you can GPS tag with the Internal GPS system the Location of the Tower you are Targeting and later come back to it , search by GPS wethin 100 miles of where you are.

randythomas - if you are using a Whistler scanner then you can try different Listings, what I mean is to update the database , then update the scanner, when programming in the county, search the Systems folder as Well as the Cities Folder as the frequency you are looking for could be in Systems - P25 and County Digital system as well, or it could be just in Cities folder.

Hardsuit:

FYI I created and have consistently maintained the "W4UVV Virginia Frequency Directory" since 1985! Your gratuitous assertion that "The FCC no longer maintains License Database with updated entries" is 100% INCORRECT!

A typical FCC license has five potential life stages: issuance, modification(if desired/required), reissue, cancellation or expiration as appropriate.

The FCC weekly issues appropriate license actions for each state. Since the advent of the DMR(MOTOTRBO) and NXDN/NEXEDGE emission modes, for Virginia, many license actions during the past few years have represented license "modifications".

The FCC most certainly does have a nationwide updated license database. It is called the "FCC General Menu Reports". The difference now is inquires typically are specifically vice globally.

For repeater inputs start by looking at MO and FX1, my guess since I don't live local is 156.015 153.785 153.845 153.92

RR database still lists PE County SO as 460.525.......if it has indeed changed to 453.2375 could someone who has the pertinent info update it in the database. Thanks for the research and help.

I already have a spreadsheet started on the above, and a few other FCC callsigns & licenses I have found for Nelson. If you want the [in-progress] sheet, e-mail me at:

my callsign above @ yahoo

...and I will forward it to you.
