Two Fire Bombings Target UCSC Researchers

SANTA CRUZ -- Firebombs were intentionally set on a porch and in a car belonging to two UC Santa Cruz researchers in separate incidents early Saturday in what police have classified as acts of domestic terrorism.

Police are calling one of the bombings an attempted homicide. In one incident, a faculty member's home on Village Circle off High Street was intentionally firebombed at about 5:40 a.m., according to police. The residence belongs to a well-known UCSC molecular biologist who works with mice. He was one of 13 researchers listed in threatening animal rights pamphlets found Tuesday in a downtown coffee shop.

Santa Cruz Police investigators, the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and UCSC police are conducting a joint investigation, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. The case has been turned over to the FBI...

Much of the local police traffic is in plain English. Lets hope these terrorists are caught sooner than later...

Maybe you just havent been aware of these, but there has been a marked increase in firebombings of University facilities in the past....UCLA researchers have been widely targeted in the past.

And the University of Washington caused considerable damage.

Don't be silly! This doesn't look like dogsh*t in a bag being set on fire like a Halloween prank. It won't be so funny, when these animal rights nutcases try to invade your home and must be driven off by force. Go visit www.santacruzsentinel.com and read more about what these terrorists are really doing...

That bombed out car doesn't even belong to one of the UC researchers on that hit list found in a coffee house. The terrorists were planning to bomb a vacation home in rural Aptos which really belongs to a rich Sacramento man, who has nothing to do with UCSC research either. Still laughing? Had they done it, you would would be seeing a deluge of news from KSBW 8 in nearby Salinas which also owns KCRA 3 in Sacramento...
