As long as the transmit lines from the scanners aren't connected, only the receive, it'll work fine. The RS-232 spec (theoretically) allows up to 4 receivers on one output. I have my one GPS driving my D700 ham rig and my 996. Works like a charm.

It would work even if the TX lines were connected together - nothing is listening to them (and I doubt that either of them would be TXing anything anyway).

Perfect, I had a feeling that it would work but was interested to see if anybody had done it. I suppose you wouldn't even need the "TX" lines since the scanners never talk to the GPS, only listen.

Keep your eyes open, you just may see some pics of a 15 and 996 stacked in the Santa Fe soon. TeeHeeHee

I made a "splitter harness" with a few bits from RS's parts bins and some old ribbon cable. Nothing fancy but it works 100% with my 996 and 15, they both work as designed. It has worked fine when fed from either my handheld GPSMAP60CSx or a cheap GPS18 "hockey puck". Total cost about $8 or so and about 30 mins with a soldering iron.
Good luck!
