Evening all,

I have two submissions currently in limbo. One (submitted 1/17) was owned, and I replied to the admin's question, but it remains uncompleted. I've reached out to @Starcom21 in a PM, but still have heard nothing back.

The other was submitted on the 14th and remains open, not owned. I reached out to the admin who usually handles the system in question, but have also heard nothing back.

Is there currently an issue with systems? Is there something I've missed? Not really sure what to do as I've never had this problem before. Guidance would be most welcomed.

Thanks!

I already spoke with him via messages, but yes, we do have other things going on. I had a question and then got an answer same day, but was already headed to work. At the same time, I'm used to most submitters NEVER responding, or it takes a week or more and might even have to send them an email.
Was working every day, except the 18th and 19th where I was having some nerve issues and my back was out, on my days off. Went back to work on the Sun 20th, no pain. Ice Storm and everyone calls off, end up with 12+ hours on Monday.

And the submission had already been worked on the 17th, just had to change the site number on the 23th.

His first message to me was on Sunday and 2nd on Tuesday.

Also, the original submitter of the system said it showed on DSD+ as "TIII Site T2-1.2 DCC:0" and I wanted to check my notes from my last Memphis visit to see what they said. I'm having him check on DSD+ again to see if it is CAP MAX system.

Wow, sounds like you are doing what you are supposed to be doing. Thanks @Starcom21 for all your efforts.

Don't ever justify why you are not working a submission. You volunteer the time you can.

I'm here a lot
Since becoming a DB Admin, I've gone from squeezing in working submissions during slow time at work or after work, to now being a coffee-sipping retiree who can work a submission within minutes if I'm aware of it.

When RadioDitch visited Quebec a while back, we worked his submissions expediently. I seem to recall there were many. The unfortunate side effect of that is that working these submissions quickly may be expected all the time by everyone, everywhere.

I admire the working DB Admins keeping up with their commitment to RadioReference.

Time for me to get another cup of coffee. ;)

I actually give a very LARGE chunk of my free time to RadioReference. It is basically my life and I'm happy with that. I do a lot of searching (database frequency entries and FCC) . I do a lot of FCC systems searching. I scan the bands in St Louis, looking for new stuff daily. Also updating my personal records (logs) and RID/UID lists for multiple Trunked Systems.

I also spend a lot of time on the WIKI articles, especially in Missouri and Illinois.... starting on a few others states. My Illinois WIKI articles have A LOT of information, back from when I started www.ScanIllinois.com in 1999. I migrated it all to RadioReference around 2004-2005. The wiki has a lot of public safety information, Unit IDs, Tone-Out info, etc, on these wiki pages. Also recently started working on a HELP/INFO wiki for the community, call "SCAN-AID" which will always be a work in progress, but will hopefully be published in the next few months.

I used to pride myself on getting submissions entered right away, but now they are are often more-complex and/or missing information and needs some more answers.
Also, I highly respect submissions, and understand (like the way I felt before I was an admin) and submitters. If it wasn't for submitters, we wouldn't have much of a database, in these days of trunked and digital systems. I know they probably get excited over seeing their info in the database.

I always try to be nice to submitters, and show my appreciation for the submissions. I also may ask other questions about other systems or frequencies in the county, because sometimes some counties have had a submission update in years. I'll also often give some tips and trips to help them understand what they are hearing, seeing, etc.

I thought that we kept DB admins locked in a closet and occasionally tossed in a banana and a Diet Pepsi. :ROFLMAO:

it's actually Diet Pepsi and a bag of chips, but otherwise you're spot on...
