Legally it cannot go on air until the license is granted. Since this is a recent application, I would anticipate a couple of months before it is granted.

Well that's what I get for living on 7/800Mhz Part 90 for too long! Thanks for pointing that out, very interesting that you can go on air for testing and operation for up to 6 months on V/U (and part of 900) without an STA.

I wish that had applied to 7/800 when I was doing CoH licensing! That would have made my job easier!

I just went last week, first week of July 2013, and both those channels were dead as a
door nail. Nothing at all heard.

I think I will load my PSR-800 with the 17232 TGID for TxWARN and also the 10 new frequencies
that were approved in March 2013.

The database operates on user supplied information had has been verified in operation. We do not accept submissions that are based on FCC Licsene/data alone.

The emissions designators are MOTOTRBO (7K60FXD, 7K60FXE) and NFM (11K2F3E). Licensed for either one, though the FB8 and MO8, as well as the service YW, indicate trunked.

Its called wireless keyboard batteries getting weak and didn't catch it.

What I was touching upon, which many people seem to do... is:

Oh, I see a license for WPX1234 is granted and here are the freq's, I'll submit them to the DB even though I haven't heard a peep on the radio but its looks good.

That doesn't work.

That is no longer true. TxDOT has cancelled many low band licenses and started removing low band frequencies from others.

One of the radio shop guys here in Lubbock and I chat whenever we see each other. He's mentioned that the low band is probably coming out of the trucks that still have them (inspectors and what not don't even have radios anymore here) and hinted that maintenance may be going to either high band VHF or UHF. We more or less talk about our personal vehicles since he likes asking about all of the antennas on mine (currently I'm setup for 900Mhz, APRS, 2m and commercial UHF) and the fact I installed a UHF system in my state truck using what was leftover from when the low band radio was removed.

W5PKY,I have to differ with you I haven't heard anything on Lo band in the last 10 years in Lubbock. The two repeater channels are quite busy. Ive even heard several transmissions on non repeater channels. I have one bank that is a DOT (statewide) only and when I travel I unlock it all radio traffic is on VHF,nothing on LO band. I haven't seen any vehicles with the two types of Lo band antennas that DOT had on their vehicles.

From what I've heard, txdot uses virtually no lowband. A lot of 150's analog with some districts going p25 vhf and a lot of users on both 700/800 and vhf p25 regional trunking systems

TxDOT Usage

One of the TxDOT techs I have run across says that they are pulling and letting expire all the lowband stuff. Too bad, lowband is the magic freq. No one uses it anymore. Whoever figures out how to do digital (P25, DMR or ???) on it will make a killing.

From listening here they are also using voip for connections between some locations. I hear some encryption too. What the heck does TxDOT have to encrypt?

They seem to use mainly VHF or 800. Have not found any UHF yet.
