If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello All. I recently purchased a TYT MD-2017 and am looking for some confirmation on monitoring a MotoTRBO DMR Cap plus system in my region. I have created four zones that represent the four towers in the area. Each zone has the frequencies associated with the repeater tower entered in twice (one as slot one and one as slot two). I have the correct color code as obtained from my SDS100. Each zone/tower uses either 3 or 4 frequencies including control channel. I have also created four scan lists for the respective zones. Each channel is programmed as RX only and Auto Scan. I have "user defined" a button on the radio to allow for "monitor" to be selected.

I am receiving transmission data on the display of the MD-2014 including radio information including TXcontact info that matches the TG when using my SDS100 to monitor the same system. However, with the MD-2017 no audio ever breaks the squelch - even with "monitor" selected.

Ideally, the objective would be to allow me to monitor the tower (zone) that I am closest to by scanning the associated channels with monitor selected.

Not sure if this is even possible but thought I would try it out.

Anyone have any ideas on why I am receiving radio information on the MD-2017 display and not any audio? I have confirmed the speaker works as I am able to monitor a number of other transmissions on the device.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

My guess is that they are using RAS on the system. Scanners don't care about RAS. The MD-2017 likely does, and will not unmute. If that is the case, there is no way of getting around that.

My smart ass answer is I have a Hytera to sell you that probably won't unsquelch so you can verify it's not the TYT.

Shifting to serious mode (which I hate to do)
Have you put multiple TG IDs in an RX group and put that group in each channel?
I doubt monitor works in DMR mode and if it did you'd hear data.

Thanks for the input - I MUST be doing something wrong on the TYT programming side of things. I programmed the TRBO system into my Hytera MD-612 (three channels x 2 slots per channel on the same color code) and have no problem monitoring the closest system when scanning the 6 entries. Sigh.... I guess I will check and double check the TYT programing again and try and figure out what I am missing.... :)
