• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have a MD-380 UHV 400-480 unit with a codeplug a friend figured out to use with only 2 (of dozens) digital channels.
ie: a bunch of Analog channels and in the mix there are 2 digital ones.
I've had it about 2 years and use it occasionally at a road-racing automobile track as a corner worker on one of the digital channels.
It works fine communicating with the Motorola radios owned by the track.
So.....
A friend who is also a corner worker wants to do the same thing.
He purchases an MD-UV380 which is dual band with a GPS.
From the disk included I install software MD380G V1.34
Using TYT software MD390 V1.36 to read the code plug from my UHF radio I save that to my PC
I read that codeplug with the MD380G software, with no errors reported, and upload it into the UV380 with a successful report.
Looking at the display on the UV380 it looks different than the 380, but the channels seem to be there.
However, the UV380 cannot hear transmissions either digital of analog from my 380 or from other analog radios on the analog channels. It cannot transmit either.
If I read the code plug from the UV380 it shows all the channels properly and all the settings I compare are the same as my 380 UHF radio.
I'm stumped!
I must admit I don't speak the language for this digital stuff. The friend that figured out how to program has passed away.
Attached are the codeplug files from my 380 and from the UV380 ..
I hope someone can help! I'm sure it is simple but I don't speak the language!!

The Firmware version of the UV380 is S017.009 and the CP Version is V01.34
On the front screen for each channel programmed in it displays an A with an underscore arrow and below that the word Unprogram. Using the up and down arrow on the keypad you can move the A up and down. In the up position it says the channel number ("Sixteen" for instance) and in the down Unprogram position it says "One" (verbally)
