What I've found with the MegaWatt type of power supplies
is that the voltage regulators and the current limiters aren't
very good.
I've blown 1 MegaWatt so far and that was being used for
LED strip lights. The current limiter went in that also.

But, I was just curious. Like I said, I never even thought
of using one of those type of supplies for a radio.
Being in electronics for 25 + years, I found that I trust a
power supply with a nice hefty transformer rather than some
IC chips

Being in electronic repair for 36 years I know a hefty transformer is reliable. But I wanted a much smaller very light weight P.S. that takes very little space and the MegaWatt fits the bill. This type of P.S. can also be reliable if built with quality components. I believe MegaWatt is built correctly so I will report back if my P.S. is reliable or has a problem.

If those pass transistors fail in a transformer type supply, your radio will smoke because of the high voltage that will hit the radio. Should a switcher fail, it dies, & no damage to the radio.

In any event. My eyes have definitely been open to
options that I never considered before. I've looked at
these supplies before via google search and just kept on
scrolling. I certainly will give it a try next time I'm in
the market for a new supply.
