I have a TYT TH-9800 quad band transceiver that has developed white noise on one side. No matter which frequency I switch to, there is constant
white noise. The other side has no interference at all, even when set to the same channels as the first side. I have tested the antenna with a NanoVNA-H4 analyzer and it tests fine. This is a new radio. It has worked fine for weeks up until this last week. Has anyone else had this issue? Does this sound like a warranty issue?

If it's still under warranty, send it back to the seller ASAP. Let it be their problem to repair/replace.

Send it back if you can. This is a Chinese knock-off of the Yaesu FT-8900. If you can find a used FT-8900R in good condition, you'll be a lot happier.

Ah - that kind of 'better'. You do know that quite a few brands have their products made in foreign countries, but badged as "made in XXX" because the splash screen programming is done in that country? In fact, the list of manufacturers who have varying proportions of products made by somebody else is growing?

I’m not aware of any benefit to the Yaesu? Care to expand on why it’s better? Faults occur on many brands
It is defiantly not the quality of a Yaesu. If you ever had any Yaesu product you will understand.
It also does not have some nice features of the Yaesu like the better scanning features
(I have had a Yaesu & now have a HYS 8900) It does not let me scan both sides and select just one memory group you have to scan all frequencies)
I could not find a used FT8900 when I got the HYS 8900

It has nothing to do with where it is made. It is what is under the hood. The Yaesu is an actual dual-conversion superhet with ceramic IF filters on the front end. The TYT is a typical system on chip garbage can radio made to a lower price point.

Open both up and see.

First Yaesu in 1979, many since. I have no issue with fair comparisons but you seemed to be saying everything from China is bad. Some is, some is not.

Most of the low rent Chinese radios based on low cost SOCs are turds. Some higher end equipment, such as Hytera, are exceptions but the Bowelturd garden variety radios are complete utter feces pieces. Low muddy transmit audio, anemic and useless scan, painful user interface with difficult if not impossible to navigate, and receiver front ends wide open. Yes, they are GARBAGE PAIL RADIOS.

In this case, the FT-8900 is a time proven radio with a relatively trouble free history. The TYT is obviously a half-baked half-butt knock off built from inferior components and it's poor performance shows. A turd.

I did not mention that - maybe someone else? (In this thread)

Good job we're not allowed guns. Seriously though, how many people can actually afford the premium price radios? To W8WCA - sorry, I did mean that for somebody else.

Is a Baofeng a well designed, commercial quality radio? Of course not - but at maybe 25% of what Icom would want, I understand people buying them. People buy cheap cars and they buy luxury ones - it's a choice. I've got 6 TYT portables and 6 Icoms that I use locally for events and things. I just don't see any difference in what they do or how long they've lasted - that's all. If you have 700, buy a Yaesu, if you only have 300, then it's NO radio or a TYT?

@KE0EZW I would send the radio back if it is still under warranty,

And FYI, the TYT TH-9800 is a super-heterodyne radio.

Which TYT radios are superheterodyne?

I personally do not have any experience with the TYT TH-9800 so can't comment. I do have two TYT TH-7800 radios and have not had any issues with them.

I have two Yaesu FT-8900s and I had a TYT-9800 which is supposedly a clone. Looking inside each radio the TYT has nothing, zero in common with the Yaesu except for its outside appearance. My Yaesu's meet all factory specs for transmit power and receive sensitivity where the TYT ran about 75% of rated power.

The Yaesu works very well with smooth controls and no surprises. The TYT always had an annoying pop in the speaker when the squelch breaks, it was more susceptible to interference from out of band sources and both transmit and receive audio were inferior to the Yaesu. The only thing the TYT did over the Yaesu was it went further out of band like transmitting in the CB band or it pushed a little further into the commercial VHF and UHF bands even though the transmit power dropped off noticeably.

Bottom line is you get what you pay for. Yaesu costs a lot more but you get a proven reliable and great working radio. TYT you get what looks like a Yaesu but its frustrating to use and that's why I gave my TYT-9800 away when I challenged a local CBer to get his amateur license and he did winning a free radio to get started. I still have and use my Yaesu FT-8900s.

I am not sure this is true. What is the 1st IF and 2nd IF of the 9800? If the manufacturer is hiding it, it's for a reason. Yaesu, a REAL radio vendor, proudly publishes their specifications on all their products,

My late mother always said, if one is hiding something, they must not be proud of it.
