• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Is it saying something about "Prolific"? That's a manufacturer of USB to RS232 chips. The message may be referring to a problem with your programming cable.

The cables are based on an old prolific brand chip, and some versions of windows now object to it! For a while, Windows spotted it and actually uninstalled the driver 'to protect you', then they seemed to not check and the latest update now gives you the warning message. If you google prolific usb cable driver - you'll find the old drivers and if you try installing these, it might just get you around the warning. My office computer though, just re-installs the windows one which is newer, and doesn't work.
For what it is worth, I really hate chirp for programming these radios - the manufacturers one has always worked better for me.

Has anyone ran into a issue programming the hyper keys? I have no issue programming the "A,B,C,D,E,F" buttons on the main unit but I cannot seem to get them to work on the handheld speaker mic. Any ideas?

I am having a problem with programming the hyper memory keys on a TYT TH-9800.

I have 20 freqs total in channel memory positions 1-20
The first ten I want to be scannable and the second ten selectable but not scannable (skip). I want to place that config in Hyper Memory A.
I am using the software from TYT to do this. I save the DB to the computer and also write it to the 9800. Once installed, I press and hold the Hyper Memory A button for 2 seconds (until it beeps).

I then go back into the software and change the scan feature on the first twn to skip and the second ten to scannable. and write this to the 9800 and press B until it beeps.

No matter if I short press press A or B (to retrieve the configuration) after that, the same group of freqs is scanned (the last configuration written to the 9800)

This is different than the FT8900.

I can't make heads or tails from the written manual.
Any help would be appreciated.

The microphone doesn't have that ability. The hyper keys only work from the faceplate.
