• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey Everyone!

I have a small firearms business and I have a couple of radio channels that I got from the FCC. I am by no means a professional so I am sure something is programed wrong, but my radios are constantly having static on every channel. I have linked a video below, any tips or tricks to try to fix it are appreciated.

Give us your callsign and maybe someone can check to see if your frequencies are used by someone else in your area.

I "assumed" your member name is your company name and found your license. Does this happen on both the 462 and 467 frequencies?

You may want to post your programming file for us to take a look at.

Are you using DCS or CTCSS? It almost sounds like something locally is potentially interfering, not someone else on the frequency or nearby, but it's really hard to tell from the video.

I would suggest take a drive and get away from that area to determine if something nearby is the problem. Also check if you programmed those channels as digital not analog? Can you post a screen shot of one of the channels on CPS?

They come in box with both a VHF and a UHF antenna. Probably easier logistics doing that. You seem to have the VHF antenna on the radios.
It probably doesn't matter to the interference. You get the same interference having only one radio powered on? It's the kind of interference that you get from other electronics CPU's in operation. Open squelch and try and find where the signal are the strongest, perhaps using your finger as an antenna, or holding your hand around the antenna to reduce the signal and then hunt around to find the source.

Hi Viri.

You said "newbie" that's okay, so let's start right at the beginning. First of all, you stated " static on every channel " - so, are you familiar with a radio's squelch function and have you made sure it's set properly on those two radios? If you leave the squelch turned too low that will give you static on all channels, all the time.
