I live in Boston's North End and I do alot of running within it and every day I run by the U.S.C.G. which is in the North End and I hear the guys out front at the gate and around the C.G. perimeter using radios. I was wondering if anybody knew the frequencies being used by Boston sector U.S.C.G.

That is the $100,000 question [they were years ago] on VHF in the 170 Band, but had long disappeated and the $1mill answer is ? No one has found them yet. Search 162-174 as you run and maybe you might win the prize for getting the answer. Everytime I am near by, no one is using a radio :(

Dude... If you SEE them use the radios, bring along a scanner with "Close Call" (the feature that log hits in the nearfield) and see what you find. Post back here your results. We'd all like to know.

I'll set the custom search on my PRO-96 to 162-174 while I am at home in the afternoons and see if I pick anything up. I see the C.G. helicopter flying over my appartment all the time. I assume there using a frequency between 162-174 aswell?

Actually, most of the time the Helo will contact the appropriate Sector on the VHF Marine CG Channels, for them to assume-their-Guard [aka monitor the radio] as well as report their position periodically. There have been a few Helo reports on the P25 channels, but limited here in New England.

They do run 164.5500 and 166.2250 for Base Ops at CG Air Sta Cape Cod

In that same band, since you are so close you will find P25 [NPS at the Charlestown Navy Yard] and Analog US Navy from the same location for the Constitution
