What kind of ops? Some of their stuff is in the HF range some is in the mil-spectrum, you can search the wiki but if u just wanna hear like run of the mill broadcast (distress and weather stuff) you can program the VHF channels into the scanner...i have a scanner an old bc-60 dedicated to just coast guard stuff, obviously channel 16 and 22a are the most active but you hear things on the other freqencies in the VHF range...hope that helps...and when all else fails search the wiki!!

George the LANT designator has pretty much been retired, for the new name of "CG-xx"

The new list is avail at
http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/United_States_Coast_Guard#Land_Mobile_Channels
and we would appreciate local report of Stations / Sectors using these new channels.

162.0500 CG-08 is Sector Boston and Sta.Pt. Allerton

Just a thought.

Not for nothing!
But the very best of monitoring in this band that I have ever done, I used a used marine radio with the microphone disabled of course. The marine band can be filled with intermod when monitoring it from land, at least that has been my experience anyway. The marine radios have Excellent image regection and/or front ends! Just a thought.

George, any activity on 150.7000 the USCG Aux Rptr?

They have atleast two in CT [New Haven and New London]

I've picked up some activity, nothing very specific. Radio Traffic was a nightmare in the Sound last weekend. I do have it programmed, I'll keep you informed if anything comes of it.

The third Thursday of the month they do a Net on that freq. from Westchester county through Ct. and including Nassau and Suffolk counties in L.I.
You will hear all of the repeaters at that time. Starts at approx. 20:00 hours.
