Their VHF frequency (166.325) has been very quiet the past few weeks. I received credible information that they are in the process (or probably have already done so) switched over to a digital encrypted channel(s) on the U.S. Marshal radio system. I didn't see a U.S. Marshal system in the database, only VHF P25 channels. Any further info on this?

VHF P25 is a digital radio type, so maybe those are the channels you are referring to and they merely became encrypted?

Not sure why USPP will switch to USMS frequencies, they are different departments.

USPP in NYC area has a P25 channel for a few years now that is fully encrypted, but primary traffic were still on 166.325 since long ago

166.3250 is not fit the new federal bandplan. They are going to have to get off it whether they want to or not (and soon).

The FEDS all now have a new band plan for VHF, and UHF radio systems, and have been moving over to the new line up for a couple of years now. MOST of the systems are P25, with MOST Law Enforcement using encryption at least partially. The only ones that seem to really be dragging their feet on transition are USFS. (Most likely due to being the ones treated like red headed step children most of the time.)

Yes, but at least the USFS and the USPP both answer to DOI, whereas the other stepchildren have completely different parents in the DOJ & DHS.

For the reference of those who are un-aware of the move by NTIA to a VHF band plan
go to our wiki Federal VHF/UHF Channel Plans - The RadioReference Wiki

However, not EVERYONE has begun a move [varies by Agency/Region etc] and there are exceptions/exemptions [some due to interference issues - mostly in the UHF related to the 9 Mhz offset]

Have you spent anytime searching for a possible NEW Frequency ?

You can add DEA [those who are still UHF and on the Old Channel Plans] to that list of dragging feet. :D

They may have switched to the USMS system. I know that they were waiting for a circuit to be delivered to the USMS site in Jersey City. Basically a 'union' issue. As in who was gonna pay to extend a circuit to the TX room. Friends in the guberment tell me there is a big push to share assets. Especially in areas where frequencies are hard to find.

The USFS is under the Department of Agriculture. Most of the other conservation agencies are under the DOI. NOAA Fisheries, which has a law enforcement arm, is under the Department of Commerce.

And we can/do find NOAA [NMF] operating on CBP now instead of their own network

Any updates on this? Still cannot hear U.S. Park Police NYFO on 166.325. Frequency is still in the Frequency Database.

Any help appreciated.

They are on 169.6500 NAC 4F9 encrypted for some time now. 166.325 has been abandoned.
