The State Patrol was also testing on Statewide Emergency Management earlier today.

We don't use UHF portables anymore, so I don't know why the UHF freq is there...unless someone is really hard up and handed out the dual band Vertex radios again.

MARC was tested at times with the repeater and other times simplex.

They were calling the UHF, repeater 1, the command post always had a strong signal, but when portables were in low areas along the lake their signals would break up.

The Emergency Management freq was probably simplex.

Stateboy: Interesting info....and a question: Are the UHF mobile extenders field programmable to operate on the input frequency of 465.4000 for the 'temporary repeaters' outputting on 460.400 ? The state has licensing for both frequencies under KAZ430 and I was just curious if the mobile externers can be adapted for the special circumstances? Thanks.

We aren't using UHF mobile extenders anymore, hence my statement about UHF portables. The only temp repeaters that I've seen and used recently are VHF, except there is some UHF thing out in Madison.

(Someone other than myself submitted the updates to the DB)

The State Patrol Mobile Command Post is located next to the northeast Sheboygan Co Highway Dept. building on Hwy 42 between I-43 & Howards Grove. The WSP has a portable tower that looks to be about 25 ft tall with 5 or 6 antenna's on it.

Both the MARC and UHF-1 repeaters are on a temporary tower. The Emerg Management being tested was on the Chilton repeater. 156.000 WEM mobile was also tested for coverage. 460.400 is in the state UHF radios as 2 channels. Repeat 1 and Air 1 simplex. State Patrol aircraft also in the air for the event daily operating on MARC. So far the Sheb SO has not initiated any patch but I would expect that to change in the final rounds on the weekend. Then again that may not be neccesary since the county squads have VHF mobiles in them yet.

For some reason there is now a MARC patch on Milwaukee Co TRS 20912,this is also the talkgroup for the 24/7 VHF MABAS Blue which makes no sense if you ask me.

158.8050 - WOW, that was a repeater, it sounded like crap. Even the people who were performing the coverage tests thought it sounded bad.

156.000 WEM mobile was also tested for coverage.
I didn't catch that one, were they testing last friday?

Not sure which day. There were some top officials from the state's communications outfit in town for a day or two. Big stuff going on here around Shebaghdad!

Some of those last four frequencies were in the past used for low power irrigation control equipment. Possibly also wireless moisture sensors, etc. At the course in the past I was able to hear the data on those. Unknown if still in use for that purpose.

Media and USGA are using a number of frequencies in the 450-451 MHz range. 450.2875 has golf officials on it. 450.3875 also. There are a ton of open transmitters at the course in the 450 range.
