Extensive testing today by possibly DOITT of a repeaterized U-Tac channel [453.7125]. Voice checking from mumerious locations from mid-town to the Battery. They were using both moto and vertex radios. Maybe preping for the up coming terrorist trials?

A very valid point . I would venture to say there may be a few other frequencies that may begin testing. Might be a good time for everyone to keep an ear open to new activity in that area.

That's UTAC-42/42D (INTER-OPERABILITY CHANNELS FOR LOCAL/STATE/FEDERAL AGENCIES). That would explain that DOITT radio techs chatting on their P25 UHF talkgroup about transmitters "A" and "B" that they were having a problem with yesterday afternoon. One of the techs was also at the FDNY CO on Staten Island when they were trying to resolve the issue. Maybe the UTAC freqs (maybe the VTAC as well) are going to be located at the 5 Boro COs of the FDNY. Hmmmm....

Hay, why not, if you got the $$$ use it!
Also, Suffolk FRES has established 3 U-Tac channels for county wide interoperability and fire ground ops In an advisory to all county FDs, they urge installing the u-tac channels in the 13,14,and 15 position of there radios [channels 1 & 16 they say should be for the depts own fire ground channel]. The county keeps 100 portables available to be given out at large "events".

Sure,
U-Tac 41D: 453.4625/156.7
U-Tac 42D: 453.7125/156.7
U-Tac 43D: 453.8625/156.7

The county only asks that when using any of these freqs, that the incident commander notifies Fire Con to insure channel coordination.
