When EMS is dispatched in maine they are now using U21 as abbreviation for covid 19. They will either Say positive U21 or Negative U21
Not only did they blast an email out to all providers from the state, they even posted it on the publicly facing maine.gov/ems website. So much for soooper seeeekrit codes over the radio.
Data tracking & analysis. Same disease process can be described uniquely by every provider, and then data mining is damn near impossible...this makes subsequent analysis much easier.Makes me wonder what the purpose of having a code was supposed to be.
Listen to portland, it just flows off the tongue now.5:06PM EDT Sunday March 22, 2020 Just heard my first COVID19 related call. 154.8225 Androscoggin County Sheriff, "be aware she is positive U21".
Five minutes later, I heard it referenced again on 154.22 Windham Fire, "and also be advised, your patient is negative U21, negative U21"
I bet it does. Well, it's new to me as I mostly only listen to Military aviation but decided to turn on some local public service freqs for a change. Glad the original poster pointed out the new code as I knew what it was when they were talking about it. Thanks. RR.com is a great useful tool for us all.Listen to portland, it just flows off the tongue now.
