I am getting this error fairly often when trying to write a config to my UBC126AT.

I can write the config fine, soon after I write the config again and then get this error. It is NEVER an issue with reading from the scanner, only writing to it.

From my testing it is a different error message to if the scanner is turned off or the cable is unplugged, any ideas?

I think you have said in the past that you have/do also use Scan125? If so do you get the error? If you do get that or similar then Scan125 may have a little extra info.

If you are running Windows non native (eg on a VM/similar) then Windows will not have direct control of the COM port and access and control will be determined by the VM. A slow/busy VM could quite easily not respond quickly enough to Windows and is being taken/read as access denied.

Thanks Nick.

I am a BIG fan of SCAN125 and use it all the time for logging and remote control. This has NEVER been an issue.

I am using the Uniden software on a laptop running Windows 10 Professional. It has nothing "special" about it at all. Over the weekend I updated my config a few times and the first time I push the config it always works, when a few minutes later I went to push the config again I got this error message. I am to the point of rebooting the laptop between these but that is a pain some times.

Well I have solved this issue. It appears my wireless mouse was the issue. I left that at work over the weekend so had to use the touch pad, I didn't have any issues. I plugged my mouse in last night and it started failing again.
