I might be traveling to Australia this summer from the U.S., does anyone know if I can download their version UBCD and not cause any damage to my BCD396T?

If your talking UASD it should be the same, but if your talking about the UBCD396T firmware then the radio has a different cpu version so the firmware loader should say that you have the incorrect model as detected by the loader.

BTW: I see that ARC396 basic and pro works with the UBCD396T also.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of trying the firmware, but I was afraid it would cause some damage.

re australian software

Hi there,
I live i Australia and have an American version scanner (BCD 396-t). I have tried to load the Australian version firmware into my scanner. It states wrong firmware. The Australian version has a different band coverage than the American Scanner, but has little effect on my listening pleasure. As most of the trunking over here is mpt 1327. It is best just to do a search and store of your custom search. If you have your custom search set it up with 160 to 174 mhz and 410 to 423 mhz you will be able to save our trunking channels. We also use edacs and motorolla in the major cities of 865 to 870 mhz. As for the police over here, it is still analogue but moving to motorolla digital encrypted in the near future.( p25) In Victoria it is 419 to 424 mhz, I assume it is the same in the other states.
There is probably more info on www.scanaustralia.com.au
Hope this helps.
cheers.
